The material used in persuasive speech should stimulate one or more of the following natural elements of persuasion;

Effective Public Speaking Tips

The public speaking tips given in these blog posts will help deliver more effective public speaking and presentations but can also be used in day to day communication for example asking for a raise.

9. To stimulate desire make a vivid appeal to the senses cast in frames of the audience's wants or desires. Of course the appeal must be believable. The most effective persuasion is by a combination of stimulating a listener's wants and influencing their mind.

10. After gaining the attention and interest, convinced the listeners and stimulated desire, the speaker only has to close by showing his audience what to do. Make it easy for them. People will fail to act if the speaker does not make it easy for them to do so.

More Persuasive Public Speaking Tips

The public speaking tips being presented over these blog posts will also help develop your public speaking skills for other types of speeches where you speech purpose is to inform your audience.

The next public speaking tip is:

8. Clear interesting facts are necessary, especially for the conviction step. Facts add weight to a talk. However, facts can be dull, they do not create vivid picture or touch the listeners' emotions. Try to package the facts in ways that will make them easy for the audience to understand. So instead of saying "The death rate in China is high," try something like "Every time you breathe a Chinese person dies."
Facts by themselves can be dull and cold. Try to give them some color to keep the audience interested.

More Persuasive Public Speaking Tips

Persuasive speeches do not necessarily need to be for personal gain as in sales presentation, they also can be gregarious purposes, such as to convince others to give blood to the blood bank.

Here are 3 more public speaking tips for more effective public speaking by being more persuasive:-

5. The material presented must be logical and contain plenty of commonsense. No amount of persuasion will be accepted by people that will make them appear foolish.

6. Use quotations. The most effective quotations to use in a speech are those made by people recognized as experts in their field e.g. Einstein on science, Mayo brothers on surgery.

7. Make illustrations be the core of your speech. Jesus' talks were full of stories. Abraham Lincoln was also famous for his stories.

Public Speaking Tips - Relax

Here are two ways of beating the problem of public speaking fear. One is a short-term solution which helps immediately, and the other is a long term cure.

Short-term Policy for Public Speaking Anxiety

An inexperienced speaker should start straight away in a supportive environment such as a course. The coach begins a conversation with the speaker and the coach continues the conversation but he moves away from the front, and the speaker continues to talk. Soon the speaker finds himself by himself up front talking to the coach at the back of the room. He continues speaking in front of strangers. There are mistakes. It can be uncomfortable but the speaker is happy he did it afterwards. It is best to make the mistakes in this environment because it will make it easier to face an audience later. This helps to create confidence.

The Long-term Cure

If you can relax your muscles the pre-speech nerves disappear by natural means (not using drugs or alcohol) of using a system of relaxation. You will find that public speaking fear normally preceded by tenseness will not be felt as you muscles will automatically relax.
